The Rutland Teaching Alliance is changing.

Rutland Teaching Alliance Statement 13th November 2020

The Government have decided to slimline the teaching school approach and establish new, larger Super Hubs to replace the many smaller ones that currently exist. These Super Hubs are in the process of being appointed to ensure that there continues to be sufficient CPD for schools in all areas. School to school support will also be offered by the new hub.

As a result of this, on the 31st August 2021, the Rutland Teaching Alliance will cease to operate. The alliance has had a fantastic 6 years growing in size, providing continuous professional development for teachers across our region and providing high quality school direct teaching placements for new teachers. We have collaborated with all schools in our county and arranged for leading speakers to provide sessions in Rutland to ensure educational provision is the highest standard for our children.

It is with regret that we announce this, however we are pleased to announce that there is still the opportunity to access high quality CPD courses this academic year and train to be a teacher from September 2021 onwards.  Please see our School Direct page for further information.

About the Rutland Teaching Alliance

The Rutland Teaching Alliance is a partnership of outstanding providers ranging from Primary Schools through to Higher Education Institutes. Our shared vision is to raise the achievement of all students within Rutland and to respond effectively to the professional needs of staff locally and within the surrounding counties. Our Alliance brings together a wealth of experience and expertise at all levels including those of National Leaders in Education. We are committed to developing and delivering a range of high quality professional development courses for teachers at all career stages. We are working in close partnership with Nottingham Trent University to significantly increase the number of Initial Teacher Training places in the region through our successful School Direct scheme. In October 2016 we appointed a strong team of Specialist Leaders in Education who are working in partnership with schools within the Alliance. We are developing a culture of action research so that educational change is closely linked to evidence on the ground.

What do we offer?

The Rutland Teaching Alliance’s overriding aim is to ensure that every child in Rutland, and the surrounding area, attends a good or better school. However, in order to achieve this aim we have a duty to provide the county’s educators with access to high quality and relevant Continued Professional Development. Our focus on CPD for the Primary phase only is a reflection of the consistently strong outcomes of the three secondary schools within the Alliance. The secondary schools will continue to collaborate to share best practice through the subject networks.

Rutland Teaching Alliance have a dedicated team of experts that are available to provide bespoke support to individuals, schools or departments based on the priorities of your school.

We can work with you to identify appropriate strategies or interventions for your school, or share our expertise having dealt with a similar situation in a different context.

The Rutland Teaching Alliance strongly believes in School-Led Initial Teacher Training to recruit high calibre trainees and transform student outcomes through challenging and stimulating teaching.

Specialist leaders of education are outstanding middle and senior leaders. They have at least two years leadership experience in a particular specialism (e.g. maths, school business management, initial teacher training).
