Aims
- To develop and embed the accuracy and confidence of teachers to assess using the New Curriculum and age expected levels of achievement.
- To develop specialisms in middle leaders across the County to support colleagues.
- To encourage collaboration across schools. These sessions will also give schools the opportunity to moderate with all schools across the County and so meet their statutory obligation to moderate widely.
Course structure
- These courses will run in T2, T4 and T5
- Each session will comprise of half a day for KS1 delegates (9am – 12pm) and half a day for KS2 delegates (1.15pm – 4.15pm).
Term 2 Assessment update & moderation session of reading, writing and maths for KS1 & 2
This session provides an opportunity to explore the exemplification materials in light of most recent updates. Also to discuss and moderate work examples with colleagues from across the County.
Delegates will be asked to bring work samples to moderate and identify next steps in learning and planning.

Term 5 Moderation of writing for final judgements at end of KS1 & 2
This session will allow delegates to develop their portfolio of work to demonstrate examples of work at the relevant standards through moderation with colleagues across the County.
Last year these sessions were particularly well received as they allowed teachers to identify areas of strength and weakness in their children’s writing that could still be addressed before final judgements and moderation.

Audience: Y2 and Y6 teachers, senior leaders are also welcome

Cost: 1 Token per delegate for all three sessions. Funding provided by RCC for all Rutland schools.
Statutory attendance for all teachers new to Y2 and Y6. However, this course is open and highly recommended to all Y2 and Y6 teachers.
